Driven by concern about one of the country's main public health problems, students from Feevale University have changed academic knowledge into a concrete solution: the Dengue Zero app, which has just received its software registration certificate from the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). Created from disciplines within the Computer Science and Information Systems courses, Dengue Zero proposes a collaborative system for surveillance and control of disease, bringing the community closer to the responsible public agencies. The tool allows mapping of outbreaks, recording of occurrences, and monitoring of control actions, strengthening the integration between the population and public authorities. The project is the result of a process that integrates teaching, innovation, and entrepreneurship, aligning with the Entrepreneurial Pathway, a Feevale initiative that encourages students' entrepreneurial skills, practical experiences, development of technological solutions, and the registration of intellectual assets. The proposal highlights the application of academic knowledge to real societal challenges, with a direct impact on public health.

According to Professor João Batista Mossmann, one of the project coordinators, the result goes beyond the academic environment. “Dengue Zero app demonstrates how the combination of academic practice, agile methodologies, and entrepreneurship can generate solutions with purpose and social relevance,” he emphasizes. The app's development used the Lean Inception methodology, which allowed the product to be aligned with community needs and delivered value from the earliest versions. “Dengue fever is one of the main public health problems in Brazil, with important social and economic impacts. The project concretely illustrates how Feevale trains professionals capable of acting with purpose, solving real problems, and generating a positive impact in their communities,” adds Mossmann.

For Professor Juliano Varella de Carvalho, coordinator of Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology Management, and Systems Analysis and Development courses, this initiative is very enriching for students. "It challenges them to understand, in depth, real problems in our society and encourages them to change innovative ideas into real projects, based on the use of information technology," he states.

The Director of Innovation at Feevale University, Manuela Bruxel, emphasizes the importance of obtaining the registration certificate from INPI. "With the granting of the registration, Feevale University reinforces its commitment to innovation, student leadership, and the development of technological solutions with real potential for positive impact on the community," she points out.
