Interactive digital platform compiles information on energy consumption and contributions to reducing carbon dioxide emissions

Among constant technological advancement and the pursuit of sustainability, a project developed by engineering students at Feevale University aims to raise community
awareness regarding the benefits of solar energy through an interactive digital platform. The initiative began in the "Applied Project I" course, where students visited companies selling solar panels and, in collaboration with those businesses, identified a need to expand public knowledge about solar energy.
During the current semester, in the "Applied Projects II", the course taught by professors Cristine Kassick and Daiana Arnold, a group of students developed a website for this purpose. The team consists of J. Euler Vicente (Computer Engineering), Cássio Ayres de Souza (Mechanical Engineering), Leandro Dornelles (Civil Engineering), Leonardo de Borba and Lucas Adriano da Rosa (Electrical Engineering), and Lucas Coelho (Production Engineering). According to Professor Daiana, the proposal seeks to combine sustainability, technology, and economics by presenting accessible information on how photovoltaic systems work, potential reductions in electricity bills, and positive environmental impacts.
"We have provided a calculator that allows visitors to get a clear idea of how their household's monthly energy consumption could be affected by installing a solar kit, as well as how much this contributes to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions," the professor says. According to her, the tool is set to evolve to include a specific section for calculating electric vehicle energy consumption, considering regional tariffs in Rio Grande do Sul among other planned upgrades.
