The São José do Rio Preto School of Medicine (Famerp) will host one of the most important scientific events in the country this Friday, the 15th: the II Create Neo – INCT One Health Meeting. Bringing together nationally and internationally renowned experts, the meeting focuses on scientific and technological advances in human, animal, and environmental health, an integrated approach known as One Health. The activities will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Famerp Convention Center in São José do Rio Preto (SP).

More than just a space for academic debate, the meeting stands out as a strategic forum for developing concrete solutions for public health. “Events like this are essential for integrating different areas of knowledge and creating more effective strategies for disease prevention and control, directly benefiting society,” says virologist Maurício Nogueira, professor and deputy director of graduate studies at Famerp.

The event integrates two major scientific research programs: INCT One Health (National Institute of Science and Technology in One Health), which proposes integrated action between human medicine, veterinary medicine, and environmental sciences; and Create Neo (Coordinating Research on Emerging Arboviral Threats Encompassing the Neotropics), an international program focused on surveillance, modeling, and rapid response to emerging arboviruses in Latin America.

Renowned researchers and new technologies

The event's program features prominent names in Brazilian science, including virologist Fernando Spilki, Dean of Research, Graduate Studies, and Extension at Feevale University. The Brazilian Society of Virology (SBV) will also be present with its president, Betânia Drumond, and former presidents Maurício Nogueira, Flávio Guimarães da Fonseca, and Fernando Spilki himself, who on Thursday, the 14th, will also participate in a face-to-face meeting of the management committee of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Genomic Surveillance and Unique Health (INCT-One).

Spilki will speak at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, the 15th, about emerging viruses circulating in wildlife in southern Brazil. In addition to the scientific conferences, companies will present technological innovations in laboratory equipment and processes at the II Create Neo – INCT One Health Meeting, demonstrating how cutting-edge science and technological infrastructure work together to address major health challenges.
