The event aims to broaden the understanding of culture conceptualization, through the confrontation of aspects of American and Brazilian culture, in order to establish approximation and distance points between both countries. The course, organized by the Postgraduate Program in Processes and Cultural Manifestations and by the Professional Master Degree in Languages from Feevale University, will take place in the Auditorium, room 200B, located at Lilac building, at Câmpus II of the University. In his studies, Dixon relates the work of Machado de Assis to the historical, social, political and cultural context and emphasizes his poetic and narration questions, as well as the relationship between the Brazilian writer texts and the tradition of the Western thought. The professor has already served as a visiting researcher at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and is part of the research group Intertextual relations of the work of Machado de Assis, at Fundação Casa Rui Barbosa.
