The 16th Lepsi International Colloquium and the 8th Red Infeies meeting provided a space for dialogue and exchange regarding the relationships between psychoanalysis, education, childhood, adolescence, violence, and public policy.

Recently, professor and researcher Lisiane Machado de Oliveira-Menegotto, coordinator of the Laboratory for Studies in Psychoanalysis, Childhood, and Adolescence (Labe Pia) at Feevale University, participated in the 16th Lepsi International Colloquium and the 8th Red Infeies meeting, alongside other researchers affiliated with the laboratory. Held from July 30 to August 1 at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the gathering served as a significant forum for dialogue and discussion concerning the intersections of psychoanalysis, education, childhood, adolescence, violence, and public policy.

During the event, the group presented five papers reflecting aspects of the research and experiences developed at Labe Pia. Here are the details:

• Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your braids: Whoa! Not that one, little Black girl!, by Luiz Gustavo Heinen. This paper examines issues related to childhood and the marks left by social discourses.

• The Art of Listening: Narratives of the psychoanalytic listening experience in the school setting, by Jaqueline Bilhalva and Lisiane Machado de Oliveira- Menegotto. This work addresses the experience of psychoanalytic listening and its possibilities within the school environment.

• The experience of sexuality in adolescence and the impact of the hegemonic biomedical discourse within the school, by Julia Reichert Figueiredo and Lisiane

Machado de Oliveira-Menegotto. This paper discusses adolescent sexuality and the ways in which biomedical discourses shape the school experience.

• Trauma and Violence: an account of the experience of listening to the effects of the flood through the intersection of psychoanalysis and education, by Kauane Lasch and Lisiane Machado de Oliveira-Menegotto. This piece presents reflections derived from the experience of listening to the subjective and social impacts caused by the flood.

• Professional Training Shaped by Violence in Schools: notes from a teaching internship in School Psychology, by Luane Martins de Pereira and Lisiane Machado de Oliveira-Menegotto. This work critically examines training in School Psychology based on experiences arising from encounters with the various forms of violence present in the daily life of schools.

Labe Pia aims to build new possibilities for intervention.

According to Professor Lisiane, the gathering demonstrates the power of research and listening as ways to reflect on the contemporary challenges facing educational institutions.

“Participation in the Colloquium reaffirms Labe Pia’s commitment to knowledge production, academic training, and the dialogue between psychoanalysis and education, circulating research that views childhood, adolescence, and the school as privileged arenas for listening and for constructing new possibilities for intervention,” she explains.
