Integrated environmental diagnosis
The field of research Integrated Environmental Diagnosis associates disciplinary answers to prospect and evaluate environmental quality indexes and their consequences over the living beings and human health; it develops methods of environmental diagnosis which integrate, in an interdisciplinary way, the physical, chemical, biological and socio-economic dimensions contributing to the understanding of man’s interaction with the environment and establishing the prevision of the scenarios; it promotes the development of scientific knowledge and indicates the generation of technologies which aims both the quality of environment and the quality of life improvements while attending the demands of social interest.
From the development of a common methodology which conceives integrated diagnosis, techniques which encompass from geoprocessing to identification of chemical and biological indexes of air, water and soil, the research line contributes, through its network, to the development of science and the establishment of a new vision of regional reality of Rio dos Sinos basin.
Technologies and environmental intervention
The field of research Technologies and Environmental Intervention, from the establishment of integrated diagnosis of the environment conditions and through interdisciplinary studies, aims the development of technologies for environmental intervention, searching for controlling and correcting environmental impacts and responding to the challenges of a complex knowledge in order to contribute for the quality improvement of the environment for the living beings and human health preservation and for the sustainable development.
Thus, the referred field of research addresses an articulation and generation of concepts for technological innovation and its appliance in response to a demand of the society interest given that the technologies and the methodologies are able to be transferred to different aquatic or terrestrial ecosystems and to atmospheric conditions, and also can be made available either to the application by the public sector, contributing to the capability of intervention and response of environment and population issues or by the private sector, increasing its social responsibility.
